Edward Bawden

Edward Bawden was a British painter, illustrator and graphic artist - training under Paul Nash in the 1920s. His first one man show was in 1933.
Bawden's aptitude for printmaking, illustration, watercolour, murals and commercial design (ranging from advertising to metal garden furniture) has made it difficult for critics to classify him in one of the many 20th century artistic movements and genres.

In September of 1989 the Victoria and Albert Museum, London held the first major retrospective of the artist's work.
