Joyce W Cairns RSA,RSW,Hon RBA,MA(RCA)
A graduate of Gray's School of Art, the Royal College of Art and Goldsmith's, Joyce Cairns is one of Scotland's best known painters. In December 2018 she was appointed the first woman President in 193 years of the Royal Scottish Academy of Art and Architecture.
Joyce Cairns was a full time lecturer of Painting at Gray's School of Art until 2004. Her work is represented in numerous public and corporate collections, notably Fleming's, Aberdeen Art Gallery Glasgow City Art Gallery, Glasgow Gallery of Modern Art, Manchester City Art Gallery, The Contemporary Arts Society, Shell UK, Aberdeen Asset Management and Murray Edwards College Cambridge University
Joyce Cairns is perhaps best known for her monumental body of work exploring the theme of War, culminating in a major exhibition 'War Tourist' at Aberdeen Art Gallery.
