Ian Howard

Ian Howard (b.1952) is an established Scottish artist and prominent art teacher. He is an artist specialising in painting, drawing and printmaking.

Ian Howard is an Academician of the Royal Scottish Academy of Art and Architecture, the former Principal of Edinburgh College of Art, and an Emeritus Professor of the University of Edinburgh and a Trustee of the National Galleries of Scotland. His particular research interests include art and science, alchemical symbolism, hermeticism, emblems, medieval and renaissance iconography.

He lives and works in South West France.
